Cooperation with other Universities and Research Centres
Between 1993/94 and 2016/17 the Department of History and Archaeology operated a postgraduate program in Turkish Studies, which was run in collaboration with the Institute of Mediterranean Studies / Institute of Technology and Research since 2004.
The Department and the Institute for Mediterranean Studies of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas run a joint English-language M.A. Program in Ottoman History since the academic year 2018/19.
The Department signed a bilateral agreement in July 2017 with the Institute of the History of Mediterranean Europe of the National Research Council of Italy (Istituto di Storia dell’ Europa Mediterranea, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche – CNR). This agreement facilitates exchange and closer cooperation between researchers, teaching staff and students in the two institutions, not only in the field of History, but also in all other research areas promoted by the two institutions.
The Department has been cooperating since 2001-2 with the University of Washington in Seattle, USA. The agreement regulates the bilateral movement of teaching staff and students for research and studies.
The Department has been cooperating since 2010 with the Department of History of the University of California, San Diego , USA. This agreement comprises bilateral movement on a postdoctoral level, as well as research collaboration.
The School of Letters of the University of Crete is operating since 2010 a collaboration agreement with the University of Sao Paulo (Universidade de São Paulo, Brasil). The agreement aims at facilitating academic collaboration through the exchange of students and teaching, research, technical and administrative staff between the two universities.
